What are you currently doing (career-wise)?

I am an accountant for the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center - School of Medicine.

Why did you decide to take a professional development course?

I interact with 60+ departments at UNM-SOM, as well as with other medical facilities, medical schools, government agencies, and business vendors throughout New Mexico. I enrolled in several professional development courses to enhance my business management, accounting, and interpersonal skills.

What did you take away from your learning experience that has been most applicable to your career?

My learning experience has provided me with a better understanding of how to interact and communicate with people of all different occupations, backgrounds, education levels, and expertise.

You are so busy, how did you fit classes into your schedule?

The reward for taking the time to learn new skills is incorporating what you've learned to generate productive results. I feel that the investment of time is worth it, so fitting these courses into my schedule is a must!

Anything that you would like to include that wasn't asked?

I think education is a life-long activity. I enjoy the challenge, and I feel that I have grown as a person through my pursuit of education. The professional development courses have been a great fit for my needs.
